The Insanity of 2022 & My Predictions for 2023

Once again, I’m going to make a series of predictions for what could possibly happen in 2023 using my non-existent clairvoyant talents.

But first, a look at how I did at predicting the insanities of 2022 rating each prediction as either YES, NO, or KINDA/SORTA.

The Pandemic

  1. NO! One more variant is in store and then no more COVID after 2022. What was I thinking? Yes, the 2022 variant, Omicron, hit us but colder temps and holiday gatherings (plus less masking) means COVID has not left the building.
  2. YES. Red states (i.e., those who voted Trump) have felt a greater impact than Blue states, mostly due to low vaccination rates and the abandonment of masking.

Politics, the Economy, Policy

  1. YES. As predicted, the Build Back Better Act was watered down because (as predicted) Manchin. It became The Inflation Reduction Act of 2022. After the bill was signed into law, Biden’s approval numbers did increase, but only slightly.
  2. YES. I predicted passage of some kind of federal voting rights bill. Not a lot of progress was made, but last week as part of the Omnibus Spending Bill, an overhaul of the Electoral College process was signed into law making it harder for the Trumps of the world to undue…
